For International Patients without Japan’s Health Insurance

Fees and Charges

  • All care for international patients without Japan’s health insurance will be charged at a rate of 15 JPY per 1 medical remuneration point*.

    *Medical fees are calculated by points in Japan and they are taxable.

  • International patients are required to pay 100% of the total medical costs.
  • Please note that if this is your first time to visit our hospital or it has been over a year since your last visit, you are required to pay the initial consultation fee.
  • You are required to pay 10,800 JPY (tax included) in addition to the total medical costs for additional administrative work, coordination, etc.
  • If you are visiting our hospital without a referral letter, you are required to pay 2,160 JPY (tax included) based on the “special or specified medical care coverage.
  • Additional charges will be incurred for after-hours consultations.
  • International Patients with Private Health Insurance
    Payments must be made in full on the day of your visit and you may submit a claim to your insurance company afterwards. If you wish to obtain medical documents* to be submitted to your insurance company, please make a request as soon as possible.

    *Note: A designated form may be required for a medical certificate to be submitted to your insurance company. Please check with your insurance company in advance.

    International Patients Who Received After-Hour Medical Care
    All international patients without Japan’s health insurance who have received after-hours medical care (after the cashier’s desk is closed) are required to pay a deposit of 50,000 JPY in cash. The deposit will be reimbursed during the regular hours. (Additional charges will be incurred for after-hours consultations)

  • The medical travel assistance company you use may require you to pay the medical bills up-front. Please check with the company carefully before receiving our medical care to avoid any trouble.
  • For Patients Residing in Japan

    If you are a mid or long term resident in Japan (more than 3 months), you are required to be enrolled in some form of public health insurance.

  • Please note that if you are visiting our hospital for the first time or it has been over a year since your last visit, you are required to pay an initial consultation fee. In addition, if you are visiting our hospital without a referral letter, you are required to pay 2,160 JPY (tax included) based on the “special or specified medical care coverage.

  • International Patients Who Received After-Hour Medial Care

    *Appointments should be made by 5pm the day before your preferred appointment date (except Sundays and public holidays).

    Note:
    If you are not able to speak Japanese or have limited understanding of the language, please bring an interpreter or someone who can assist you in communicating with our staff. If you would like us to arrange an interpreter for you (English and Chinese only), please make a request when you book an appointment. Please note that our interpretation services may not be available for your preferred day or time due to the limited number of interpreters.

    Registration


    Please arrive in the hospital and come to the reception desk at least 15 minutes before your appointment time.

    WHAT TO BRING
    • Residence Card
    Your appointment may be rescheduled or canceled if you cannot show your residence card at the time of your visit. Please make sure to bring it with you when you visit our hospital.

    • Japan's Health Insurance Card
    You will be required to pay the entire amount of your medical costs if you do not have your national health insurance card. (You may apply for reimbursement later) Please make sure to bring it with you when you visit our hospital.
    • Patient Registration Card
    This is only necessary if you have already received medical services at any of the Koga Group Facilities.
    • Medication records
    If you are currently taking any sort of medication, please bring them, as well as your medication records, with you when visiting us.
    Other Documents
    If available, please bring any referral letters, medical reports, or any other document related to your condition and treatment if any. Please note that in the case you visit our hospital without a referral letter, you will be required to pay as specified under the special medical care coverage act (保険外併用療養費).

    Payment


  • 1. Once your consultation or treatment is completed, please return to the reception desk and hand the plastic folder to our staff to receive a number slip.
  • 2. When the number on your slip appears on the screen, please make a payment with the automated payment machine or at the cashier window (if you are paying with a credit card).

  • Payment must be made at the end of each visit.
    Please note that we are unable to provide cost estimates since the total medical costs will be decided based on the tests or procedures you underwent on the day of your visit.
